Thanks to a generous donation from
Pete Kaschak, an avid fisherman and longtime S.O.N.S member, the
S.O.N.S of Lake Erie fishing club purchased a Systems
Analysis & Special Studies Engineering Co. light. It was installed at
the Shade's Beach boat launch ramp in Harborcreek Township. Harborcreek
township acquired a pole and had it installed to support the light.
The light is designed to cause two strobe lights to flash alternately when
wind speeds reach a velocity of 15 to 20 mph. It is recommended that
boaters return to safe harbor and stay there until the wind subsides.
A
dedication ceremony was held on June 25th, 2008 at Shade's Beach. Pete
Kaschak and his daughter, Barbara Prescott was in attendance along with
Harborcreek Township officials, S.O.N.S. directors and the News Media. |
